Hanoi’s grand anniversary to honor ao dai
A huge ao dai (Vietnamese long dress) festival will take place in the program “The fanciful night on Sword Lake” on the evening of October 1, kicking off the festival for the grand millennial anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, reports Vietnam News Agency. Collections of ao dai from Vietnam’s three regions - the North, South and central -will be paraded by models from Ngoc Son Temple to The Huc Bridge and But Temple on Sword Lake. The dress collections will be displayed along a specially-built 350m catwalk decorated with woven mats, conical hats, and lively dioramas depicting Hanoi in ancient times. |
Numerous activities to be held during Hanoi’s anniversary
Hanoi will organise firework displays in 29 locations on October 10 to mark the grand ceremony of the 1,000 th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi. The 15-minute fireworks will be set off following the end of an artistic fireworks programme at the My Dinh National Stadium in Tu Liem district on October 10.

Park to host tourism fest to mark millennium
A four-day International Tourism Festival will take place at Bao Son Paradise Park, Ha Noi, from October 2 to mark the city's millennium anniversary.
It will feature a wide range of cultural and culinary activities among 400 booths, of them 35 for tourism outlets in five continents. More than 180 booths are for tourism businesses in Ha Noi; 91 booths for tourism enterprises in other provinces, plus the departments of culture, sports and tourism; the other booths will be for sponsors and tourism service providers. |
31,000 people to parade at Hanoi’s grand ceremony
Around 31,000 people are expected to attend the parade for the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi at Ba Dinh Square on October 10. This was announced at a press conference about meetings and parades to mark the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi on September 28.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Deputy Head of the Organising Board for the grand ceremony Le Tien Tho said that the parade will start with a procession carrying a torch from Ho Chi Minh Museum to President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum. It will be followed by a salute to a flag, cannon volley and songs about Hanoi. |
Calligraphy exhibition to open in Hanoi
A major exhibition of calligraphy will take place at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi from October 4-14.
Two hundred and fifty calligraphic pictures on paper, pottery and bamboo will be shown. |
Hanoi Culinary Festival to feature 500 dishes
Some 500 dishes from every part of Vietnam will be introduced at the Hanoi Culinary Festival, which is to be held from October 6-10 at Ho Tay Park, the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on September 29
A special focus is on traditional Hanoian food with about 300 dishes. |
Exhibition named “Imperial Citadel of Thang Long – the 1000-year history from the earth’s entrails”
On October 2, the opening ceremony of the exhibition on typical vestiges of Thang Long – Hanoi with the theme “Imperial Citadel of Thang Long – the 1000-year history from the earth’s entrails” was held in Central Sector of Imperial Citadel of Thang Long – Hanoi. This is the first time the vestiges of Imperial Citadel of Thang Long – Hanoi has been displayed and introduced to Vietnamese people and international visitors.
